Quietbreath sighed as the wind of the open moor tugged at his clean white fur. It made him long for something more, but what he didn't know. He just needed to go back to his warrior-apprentice days and take down a rabbit. That was the one thing he was good at before he became a medicine cat apprentice. The long grasses brushed comfortingly against his side and he ducked down under the tips of them, keeping his tail low.

Catching the scent of a rabbit he stretched a delicate kit-like paw forward. The grasses tickled it,bit he resisted the urge to purr in pleasure. The tom took another step forward, as the wind blew the scent towards him. The rabbit was close. Quietbreath tensed his back legs, and released the muscles all at once, pouncing on a rabbit. He unsheathed his claws just in time to sink them into the warm body of the rabbit. Purring as it died he thanked starclan for the life of the prey and licked the blood off of his claws.

Knowing he should probably bring something back for the rest of the clan after he was done with his meal. But first matters first- the slim tom leaned down to take a delicate bite of the rabbit. While he was chewing he crouched down, brushing his tail slowly over the ground. Today was going to be a great day.[/left]

[Bonesong]

Bonesong walked quietly over the open moorland. Sitting down nervously, she glanced around her and sighed. The spotted she-cat had woken up early- the same old, same old, really- and decided that she might as well hunt and fill out the fresh-kill pile a bit. The last remnants of pain and fear held stubbornly on to her, and Bonesong stood up and shook each paw warily, trying to stretch out her muscles a bit more.

The Windclan warrior scented the wind and froze when she caught a familiar scent, though she couldn't quite put her paw on who, exactly, it was. Bonesong walked forward to find a white apprentice eating a rabbit. This would have been shocking in itself if it hadn't been Quietbreath, the medicine cat apprentice that was currently feasting. The she-cat couldn't help but think this was odd- very odd. The last time she checked, medicine cats and their apprentices hunted for herbs, not for prey. Besides, by the scent of blood drifiting towards her, the rabbit had been killed very recently. And the warrior code said that you must feed your clan before you feed yourself.

Bonesong padded over until she was standing just a few feet behind Quietbreath. He's just an apprentice, she thought. I ought to make a good impression. So instead of confronting the white code-breaker she strode purposefully in front of him and scented the wind for any hint of prey. Finally, she caught the merest hint of something. Squirrel. The long-legged warrior turned around to find that a fat squirrel had crossed the Thunderclan border. Bonesong crouched into hunting position, putting one paw slowly infront of the other. She heard a twig snap beneath her. Every time! Bonesong thought angrily as she gave chase to the now fleeing animal, although this was a bit of an exaggeration on her part.

The silver she-cat caught up to her prey and pounced, killing it quickly with a bite to the neck. After sending a quick prayer of thanks to Starclan she picked the squirrel and walked over to Quietbreath. She put the prey beside him and gave it a little nudge towards him for good measure.

"If anyone asks why you reek of prey, you can tell them you caught this for the clan," Bonesong murmered. She knew that those with a really good nose could probably tell that he must've caught a rabbit at some point in time, but she was hoping the white medicine cat apprentice would stay away from camp long enough for the scent to fade a bit. Bonesong stood up again and got ready to search for more prey. If he wanted to say something, she would be listening.
